Southwestern Ear, Nose & Throat Associates (SWENT) has served the health needs of Santa Fe and the communities of northern New Mexico since 1986. We provide comprehensive ear, nose and throat services in a modern facility in Santa Fe. Our four ENT physicians are Drs. Thomas Thomason, David Brown, Paul Kaufman, and Peter Shepard. Dr. Wolfgang Schmidt-Nowara directs our sleep center. Our audiologists are Dr. Kathleen Weidner, Catherine Jackson, Eileen Ocampo, Jayna Rasmussen, and Elaine Almquist.

The practice has an allergy department providing diagnostic skin testing, immunotherapy (allergy shots) and sublingual therapy. Our audiology department provides diagnostic testing for hearing issues and we dispense hearing aides. We have a certified ambulatory surgery center where we perform tonsillectomies, ear tube placements and other appropriate procedures. Our sleep center provides testing for sleep apnea and snoring disorders. We are planning for the addition of medical equipment to complement our sleep center.

The practice has assembled an experienced and customer focused staff. James Knight is the Executive Director and is supported by department supervisors and their staff in a team oriented environment. For our patients needing hospital care, our physicians use Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center located across the street from our practice. Our physicians have served on the hospital board and as chiefs of the medical staff.
